200 HOUR PART TIME

4th May – 23rd September 2012

117 Hatfield Street, Gardens, Cape Town

Course will be held by Tamsin Sheehy, Mariah Betts and Aldi Groenewald, with Jim Harrington teaching the anatomy and applied anatomy module.
This vinyasa yoga training is a part time 200 hr Yoga alliance certified course that offers weekend immersions into all dimensions of yoga. Taught over a 5 month period the course places emphasis on self-inquiry and exploring how yoga supports us in our modern lives. A revolutionary experience that will provide you with powerful insights into deeper integration with your true authentic Self.
Through the practice and a very nurturing space, you will be guided to journey deep inside yourself, to discover your own truths and be transformed. It is from that place of individual truth that you will be encouraged you to find your own voice and to teach from your heart. Thus how you express yourself as a teacher is unique and authentic from your own life experience.
The first part of the course, 4th May – 15th July, will focus on learning the key fundamental elements of each asana, pranayama and mediatio
n techniques, the chakra system, the art of touch and adjustments, anatomy, working with specific bodies and injury, yogic philosophy and discovering your voice.  There will be discussion of effective communication, verbally and non verbally, precise dialouge and tone of voice. You will practice speaking from the first day in group processes and discussions.  The practice teaching will begin in the first month in small groups, leading up to teaching community classes open to the public beginning in August.
27th -29th July is a full weekend retreat held at Bhodi Khaya in Stanford, Western Cape. This will be
a culmination of the practices thus far and in depth study of Self, sequencing, and cleasning practices. There is not a set sequence taught in this course, rather it is from a deep understanding of energy and asana that we will begin to discuss vinyasa yoga sequencing. How to build a class around theme, mood and intention. From the retreat to the end of the course we will hold community based classes for trainees to start teaching in groups and receiving feedback.
This training includes all elements of Yoga, the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. Each trainee will receive a mentor available to them for guidance on embodying the practice, clarifying goals, trouble shooting, specific questions, and continued support.
Each session of asana will have two teachers present, one to lead and one to adjust. Continual feedback on both practical teaching skills, hands on adjustments and assignments given.
Cost of the course is R20 000, payment before the 1st of April R19 000.

This includes two textbooks, anatomy manual, recommended reading list, retreat at Bodhi Khaya, teaching experience and feedback.  The most comprehensive Vinyasa Yoga course offered in South Africa.

One Response to “200 HOUR PART TIME”

  1. I love the sound of this! I am a ten year old yoga “nut” with a love for Astanga and Vinyasa practice. I studied yoga philosophy for 3 years with Durgana in Benoni during a difficult journey. Keen to join in on this course and would love to teach in the future. Do you have a payment scheme? I live in Hout Bay and work for myself as a health care practitioner. I currently attend classes at Yoga Spirit, Constantia. I look forward to meeting you all! Om Shanti. Kim
